We Believe:
- Discipline policies in the classroom, school, and district level should be built off of mutual respect, trust, and cooperation
- Approaches to discipline should focus on the root causes of the behavior and be based off principles of restorative justice
- Current zero-tolerance policies are not meeting the needs of students, but rather are pushing them into the school-to-prison pipeline
What We Do:
- Advocate for restorative practices, such as peer mediation and community circles within classrooms, schools, and the District
- Organize professional development Justice in the Classroom events to bring teachers together to discuss issues of conflict and share best practices on managing conflict in non-punitive ways
- Organize study circles on restorative practices in education
